Kjirsten Carlson Betz, MD., a Cedars-Sinai physician, is a breast surgical oncologist at Cedars-Sinai Cancer in Tarzana.
Dr. Carlson offers personalized, comprehensive care for patients with benign and malignant breast disease. Her clinical interests include invasive breast cancer, ductal carcinoma in situ, high-risk breast lesions, cancer-related genetic mutations and benign breast disease. Her academic interests include surgical education, innovation, device development and technological enhancements to surgical techniques.
Dr. Carlson developed her interest in breast oncology while earning a medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago. She completed her residency in general surgery at Cedars-Sinai, where she received the Leo Rigler, MD, Award for Outstanding Clinical Care. Dr. Carlson was again recognized for exceptional patient care while conducting a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Carlson is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
